Rag & Bone DIY Project - Bridget Hall

Originally conceived in Spring 2011 for rag & bone/JEAN and featuring some of rag & bone’s favorite girls such as Miranda Kerr, Lily Aldridge, Karolina Kurkova, Candice Swanepoel, Carolyn Murphy and Mina Shin, the D.I.Y. Project sought to flip the traditional photo-shoot on its head.

Each girl was given a digital camera, a bag of clothes and the same remit to interpret rag & bone/JEAN in their own individual way. The result is an intimate and raw collection of photographs that depict each girl’s unique perspective and personality.

“We’re really happy to have Bridget participate in our DIY Project. To us, Bridget represents that natural, All American supermodel. We loved that she shot in a few locationsfrom a hot tub in the woods and a beach shack to a New York apartment! You can tell that she’s a cool, down to earth girl not many models’ idea of a good time is beer and cheeseburgers,” - rag & bone’s Marcus Wainwright, Managing Partner.

“Bridget is so striking that even without the professionals’ help or retouching, you can see exactly why she is one of the coolest, most successful models ever,” – rag & bone’s David Neville, Managing Partner.

Shot by Bridget’s friend Carin Backoff, the model chose her adopted hometown of East Hampton for the first two locations for her Project before a trip to New York City to capture more images.

My good friend Darius is an awesome artist and has an amazing art studio at his house near Sag Harbour so we shot there and in his kickass hot tub. Then we shot at my friend’s great beach house in Amagansett before taking a trip to the city for more images,” explains Bridget.

“We listened to everything from Jay-Z and Alabama Shakes to EHM (the best radio station ever). We had good old bacon cheeseburgers, beer, good wine, good laughs and just a good ol’ time between friends – that’s all I need to be inspired.”
