ART ATTACK & WOMEN FOR WOMEN INTERNATIONAL EVENT AT DKNY

When: 12 October
Where: DKNY, Flagship Store, Old Bond Street

Celebrities, the Fashion pack, notable figures of society were out in force on the 12th in support of such a worthy cause.  I will be totally honest I didn't/don't know  much about the Women For Women International charity,  but what I have learnt since attending  the event has made me feel privileged and blessed to have been able to attend.

What they do...

Women for Women International was founded by Zainab Salbi in the US in 1993 and the main goal is to work with women survivors of war and conflict to help them rebuild their lives and communities around them.   The key countries they work are Nigeria, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Kosovo, Iraq, Sudan, Afghanistan, Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo.  With helping women to rebuild their lives they educate them and help to move them from the position of victim to survivor to active citizen, basically giving them back a voice and a voice that can be heard. Women participate in a one year programme that launches them on this journey back to active citizen, and identify services to support graduates of the programme as they continue to strive for a greater social, economic and political participation in their communities.
