One of the most accomplished and influential designers of his generation, Marc Newson applies his skills across a wide range of disciplines to create everything from furniture to airplanes. In comparison to this ‘serious’ work, he considers his G-Star collections to be ‘play’ – a chance to fuse his industrial design aesthetic and sense of humour to the fashion arena.















Marc’s collection this season presents two approaches: a high-style ‘denim uniform’ of the Premier Blazer and 5pckt Denim in Indigo/Black denim; and the more playful Worker Denim that comes in a bleached out denim and the jersey collection built on strong yellows, like the Jumbo Bleach Star T-Shirt and Colour Block T-Shirt.

G-Star RAW by Marc Newson High Summer 2011 in Stores Next Week



For high-summer 2011, G-Star RAW by Marc Newson continues Marc’s exploration of simplified lines through technical constructions. Single-piece arms, hidden pockets and minimal seams are all used in a range that represents the luxury sportswear side of the G-Star brand. This latest collection features an Army-Beach theme and includes a range of sweaters, shirts, battle pants and swim shorts that incorporate a simplified interpretation of an army camouflage print.

Key pieces include: the straight-cut, 5-pocket Worker Jean, crafted from luxurious Japanese selvedge denim and left in its raw, unwashed state; the Naive Logo Flight Jacket in sand-coloured Flight Twill, with its fitted silhouette, storm hood with draw-string surround and large-volume storage pockets hidden in the A-line body seams; and the grey-tone, premium Connor Naive R Sweat, with its black and white camouflage print, round collar and seamless, single-piece arms for comfort.
