One Aldwych collaborates with Noel Stewart for London Fashion Week

Milliner Noel Stewart Transforms The Lobby Bar at
One Aldwych With His Spring/Summer 2013 Installation

London, 6th September 2012 – Leading London milliner Noel Stewart has collaborated with One Aldwych floral designer Mark Siredzuk to create a stunning installation in the hotel’s acclaimed Lobby Bar. During London Fashion Week, Stewart’s sensational Spring/Summer 2013 collection of hats will be suspended on two towering transparent plinths five metres above Lobby Bar guests as part of the hotel’s renowned floral display. Complementing this will be a pair of statuesque vases on either side of the Lobby Bar’s glass bar which also display Stewart’s new collection.

Twenty five of Stewart’s stylish hats will be featured with a combination of bamboo and lush foliage which the milliner describes as an “undulating stream of hats moving through the space above our heads”. The effect on guests is two-fold – once the initial impressive impact is felt, they begin to explore the texture and details of the individual hats. The Noel Stewart Spring/Summer 2013 collection is influenced by the work of designer Tony Duquette, a trip to the temples and palaces of Kyoto and contemporary weaving techniques and uses gold foiled straw, PVC tortoiseshell, leopard printed crinoline and matte pink rubber.

Commenting on this unique collaboration between milliner and floral designer, Stewart said “One Aldwych is the perfect place to debut my Spring/Summer 2013 Collection as the combination of clean contemporary styling with the impeccable quality that One Aldwych is known for resonates well with my label.”

Stewart and Siredzuk have created a special one-off hat which will adorn André Wallace’s sculpture The Boatman in the Lobby Bar throughout London Fashion Week. Fittingly, it’s a boater hat spanning one metre in diameter, made from luxuriant green moss, purple violets, a rose-coloured hydrangea and a vibrant holographic band.

The atmosphere of the Lobby Bar is contemporary but timeless – perfect for award-winning head bartender Pedro Paulo’s new Fashion 75 Champagne cocktail, a reimagining of the classic French 75. This citrusy tribute to the Lobby Bar’s sensational hat installation uses Noel Stewart’s favourite flavour, lime, and preferred drink, Champagne, along with hibiscus syrup and London dry gin.
