Unforgettable night for OMEGA’s Golfing ambassadors

OMEGA House hosts golf legends Greg Norman and Michelle Wie

The OMEGA House in London’s Soho district played host to golf legends and brand ambassadors Greg Norman and Michelle Wie on Tuesday, where guests enjoyed the contemporary and intricate design of the Swiss watchmaker’s social activity hub.

In the afternoon Greg Norman shared his excitement for golf’s second debut at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, and the evolution of golf as a worldwide sport. “I’ve never seen golf in a healthier state and it’s really a global sport. It has finally gone back to where it should be as a global sport”, said Greg Norman. “The important thing is making sure everyone realizes that the popularity golf has on a global basis is a reason itself that it should be in the Olympic Games”.

Greg Norman has demonstrated great natural talent in the sport of golf and has developed a solid legacy with his 91 professional titles, including 20 on the U.S. PGA Tour and two British Open Championship titles. He is also known as the Great White Shark – a nickname that recalls not only his Australian roots but his aggressive playing style on the course. In addition to the success he has experienced as a golf player and the contributions he has made to the game, Greg Norman has established himself as an accomplished businessman.

OMEGA President Stephen Urquhart shared in Greg Norman’s enthusiasm for the global growth of golf and what the years building up to the Olympic Games have in store for the sport. “We have been working with the IGF to find new ways to make improvements to our innovative timekeeping technology to represent golf in the best light possible”.

OMEGA brand ambassador Michelle Wie joined guests at the OMEGA House for an evening of mingling in the beautifully-lit Magic Garden. Michelle Wie is known for her success as a young golfer, having turned professional in 2005 just before her 16th birthday.

A relaxed atmosphere coupled with smooth electronic music at the OMEGA House provided guests with a perfect location to meet, chat and enjoy the luxury that is a part of OMEGA’s tradition.

OMEGA has worked actively to promote golf as a global sport, and is proud of its involvement in tour and tournament sponsorship. The brand is also looking forward to welcoming golf back to the Rio 2016 Olympic Games.

Its dedication to the sport is highlighted by its partnership with The PGA of America and role as Official Timekeeper for all PGA events, including the Ryder Cup when it is contest in the United States. The agreement represents a major breakthrough for OMEGA in the world of golf and furthers the brand’s rich history in sports timekeeping.
