“Phoenix”: DVF Holiday '18
“Phoenix came to me as the perfect name for the collection; it’s about rebirth. Irreverence, joie de vivre, and a sense of renewal. All part of the spirit of the house of DVF, and of Diane herself,” says Nathan Jenden of his second collection for the house since his return.
DVF Holiday ‘18 captures the diverse and compelling spirit of New York in its provocative era of Pop Art, pop culture, and disco. Jenden was inspired by legendary Seventies muse and activist Tina Chow, a strong female New York icon with a legacy of style.
It’s all about celebrating the holiday party season; with playful paillettes and lurex in bonbon colors. “Creating clothes that look constructed but are light and easy to wear is the most modern approach right now,” says Jenden. The wrap dress comes in many updated variations: key styles include a new iteration in superlightweight printed mesh, and a mini silhouette with ruffled sleeves.
Bold, lush and ditzy florals feature alongside the house Sutra Chain, and the blown up logo appears on wraps and swimwear. Vibrant intarsia knits in Pop Art pantones depict tropical palm leaves and the Leopard Poppy print. The dragonfly appears embroidered and printed, symbolizing transformation and renewal, welcoming in the holiday season and celebrating the New Year ahead.
