This summer Selfridges welcomes the new limited edition Norman Parkinson collection by Charlotte Tilbury. Paying homage to the legendary photographer’s body of work, the collection features his iconic images on a series of compacts and make up bags.
Norman Parkinson was famed for injecting an easy and casual elegance into his images, as opposed to the stiff formality of his predecessors. A combination of his impulsive, unstructured style and eccentric personality made him one of the great photographers of today alongside Mario Testino and Tim Walker.
As a friend of Charlotte’s, Parkinson’s grandson granted her access to the archive of over 750,000 negatives and 3000 original prints to collaborate on this special collection. Being a huge fan of his work, Charlotte wanted to not only celebrate Parkinson’s work but to bring it to life for a new generation. Parkinson shot every iconic beauty imaginable between the 1930-80s for shoots from Vogue covers to Pirello Calendars. Jerry Hall and Carmen Dell’Orefice are some of his muses, to name a few, that feature in Charlotte Tilbury’s collection.
