LEVISON WOOD GIVES ADVENTURE TALK AT BELSTAFF’S MAYFAIR FLAGSHIP
WITH PIPPA MIDDLETON IN ATTENDANCE
Pippa Middleton was among the guests at a talk given by modern day explorer Levison Wood in Belstaff’s London flagship store last night.
Lev, adventure hero of Channel 4’s documentary series Walking the Nile (aired in the coveted Sunday night 9pm slot left open by Homeland), took time out before his next expedition to come and talk to Belstaff guests about the expedition.
Lev said “It’s such a pleasure and an honour to be speaking at Belstaff. Born in Stoke-on-Trent (like me) 91 years ago, they’ve a long history of dressing illustrious adventurers such as Amelia Earhart and my personal hero Lawrence of Arabia and remain a go-to brand for adventurers today.”
He spoke for about 40 minutes to the packed but rapt store about his epic journey of almost 4,000 miles on foot along the world’s longest river, then took questions from the audience.
A huge signed photograph of Lev’s of the South Sudan Mundari tribe was then auctioned off by Harry Becher for the Tusk Trust, which strives to protect the world’s most endangered wildlife.
Lev went on to chat individually to guests and sign copies of his book Walking the Nile.
“Many have attempted this holy grail of an expedition – I so admire Lev’s determination and courage to pull this off” Bear Grylls
“An immense feat of endurance, a magnificent journey and a great adventure” Sir Ranulph Fiennes
Other guests included:
Harry Soames (Winston Churchill’s great grandson), Emily and Georgia Forbes, Tessa Packard (jewellery designer), Julietta & Mungo Tennant, Marita Stavrou (actress), Arabella Dunn, Juliet Konig, Formula E! (electric F1) presenter Nicki Shields’ husband Mark Sainthill, Alistair Guy, Bella Seel;
and, all wearing Belstaff: Ed Taylor, Susie Cain, Philippa Holland (jewellery designer and extreme side-saddle rider), Fabiola de Freitas (designer friend of Bruce Parry’s), Mel Hutcheon, Harry Becher.
Lev and an intimate group of Belstaff guests then departed for private party at Chiltern Fire House.
