On April 2 critically acclaimed photographer Dougie Wallace’s feral take on Shoreditch comes to Boxpark as part East London’s monthly First Thursday free gallery events.
Shoreditch Wildlife is Wallace’s photographic series taken over 15 years, depicting the distinctive heart of Shoreditch and its sometimes-absurd nature. Dougie Wallace has been described as the most exiting street photographer working today. He takes a photograph, which is technically faultless whilst striking the perfect balance of humour, pathos and bathos; his innate talent for consuming all this information into a beautiful image makes him unique in his field.
To accompany the exhibition Dougie Wallace will be have a pop-up shop running from 30th to 6th April at the Boxpark. The shop will be an opportunity to purchase Dougie Wallace’s books and see more of his work including his Road Wallah, Omnibus and Stags, Hens and Bunnies series. The shop will host 2 special events. There will be an opportunity to meet the artist on the 1st April and a street photography master-class conducted by Wallace Sunday 5th April around Brick Lane market.
Acts on the night of 2nd April include DJ sets from Jodie Harsh and Alice Temple on and a live set from electronic music Duo Thief.
20% from all sales will go to The Hepatitis C Trust. In addition to this Dougie Wallace will produce limited edition print especially for the charity, which will be available exclusively from Printspace.
