Make way for Marsala .... Jewellery that embraces Pantone’s Colour of the Year 2015
Colour trend forecaster Pantone has announced rich, earthy, red wine tone ‘Marsala’ as itsColour of the Year 2015 – paving the way for jewellery featuring red gemstones, enamel and leathers.
Marsala is an elegant, seductive and warming shade, reminiscent of garnet, ruby and tourmaline gemstones. Marco Bicego’s rich Jaipur Sunset collection, set with dusky pink tourmaline gems in textured gold rings and earrings, perfectly showcases the hue. New bespoke jewellery brand biiju’s sparkling garnet Explosion ring is a statement piece that hints at the jewel tones of pomegranate seeds.
The Colour of the Year 2015 also translates into softer materials such as textured leather. Endless Jewelry showcases Marsala-hued leather bracelets in its Jennifer Lopez for Endless Collection of customisable bracelets, complementing this rich red tone with glamorous silver and gold plated charms.
Marsala’s earthier tones also come alive as precious rose gold; Clogau’s pretty Ar Dan collection – named after the Welsh word for ‘ablaze’ – is adorned with smoky quartz gemstones set into rose gold cocktail rings and stud earrings.
Meanwhile, gemstone jewellery specialist Holts London has composed a striking collection of red gemstone jewellery that marries the Marsala hue with sophisticated and elegant designs – each piece carefully handcrafted in its London atelier.
