ESCAPE

 

 

For Spring Summer 15 dunhill’s Creative Director John Ray captures the notion of escape.

 

 

Whether he drives to the country or travels to a far-flung destination, the dunhill man finds inspiration in unique horizons as natural light changes and days grow longer.

 

Swiftly packing to flee the city either for a home soil retreat or in search of warmer climes, our habitual traveller throws a selection of cherished pieces into his roomy kit-bag. A haphazard, eclectic mix from the many beautiful pieces in his wardrobe, he doesn’t have time or the inclination to consider the selection; besides, he will be amongst friends in their private homes so he doesn’t need to think about putting things together too precisely.

 

His bag packed, a cursory glance in the hallway mirror and he’s ready to go. He always drives. Regardless of the destination, driving is his constant. An act he finds infinitely pleasurable and synonymous with escape. Wearing a cotton silk driving coat in a playful over scale houndstooth, over a much loved sweater, accessorised with soft suede driving shoes and worn with a favourite pair of socks, he has selected pieces in a practical way that  unintentionally reveal true character, there is insouciance to the way he combines them.
