For John Lewis’s highly anticipated 150th birthday celebrations, the department store is collaborating with fashion institution Antoni & Alison to create an exclusive capsule collection of dresses.
The 10 piece silk collection takes inspiration from the shop’s extensive 6,000 piece archive; combining fine art and photographic imagery with traditional fashion design to create a unique look spanning the entire range. The edit brings together vintage prints featuring artistically deconstructed household items from the retailer, including haberdashery, ceramics, beauty and electronic products.
Stand-out pieces include a 1960's rainbow watercolour with vintage brooch jewel appliqué, and a florist rose with bias binding on a 1950's leaf print remnant. The juxtaposition of archived prints and modern textures results in couture-like, art inspired pieces with bold, vibrant patterns and elaborate embellishment. They have included everything 'John Lewis' from an ornate china set to the Barbara Hepworths 'Winged Figure' within the range.
The collection launches in store and online www.johnlewis.com 1st May and is available in small, medium and large. Each dress is £150 and 100% silk.
