Maiyet opens first boutique in New York

MAIYET OPENS FIRST BOUTIQUE AT 16 CROSBY STREET, NEW YORK

Maiyet will open its flagship retail store at 16 Crosby Street in SOHO. This is the first stand-alone boutique for the brand. Maiyet is pioneering a new luxury by celebrating rare artisanal skills from unexpected places and in doing so seeks to promote prosperity and dignity in places that need it most. The store will mirror the brand’s unique creative philosophies; discovering and celebrating master artisans from across the globe and bring them into the luxury world of Maiyet.

Located between Grand and Howard Streets the 2,500 square foot space emphasizes the luxury label’s celebration of what is special and unique mixing old world traditions with new world design; a return to the artisanal roots of luxury. For their first store Maiyet partnered with the French architecture firm Ciguë. The Paris-based architecture studio, known for their deep commitment to craftsmanship, bold, modern aesthetic and their utilization of authentic materials made them a natural match for the collaboration.

"In the Maiyet spirit, the store is a special ode to modern, minimal luxury, and artisanal handiwork throughout the details." Kristy Caylor, Co-Founder,Creative Director & President. Gestures are found in the form of hand foxed mirrors, hand applied plaster in modern silhouettes, and clean architectural steel & concrete fixtures. The neutral space features accents of color - blond oak floors, blackened steel hanging fixtures, golden leather seating, brass accents and white plaster work.

The space will house all categories of Maiyet, which include Women's RTW, accessories, shoes, semi-precious & fine jewelry. You can expect block printing from Jaipur, horn and metal work from Kenya, embroideries from Ahmedabad and hand-woven silks from Varanasi. The store will also feature a selection of exclusive products across all categories – with plans to expand the offering for the holiday season.

"Our Soho store offers a venue where the story of Maiyet can be told to the world. Through the broadest expression of our collection, compelling events and outstanding customer service we will introduce new people to the brand and build on the loyal following we have already generated." Paul van Zyl, Co-Founder & CEO.
