SPRING/SUMMER 2013
For Spring/Summer 2013, Liz Black presents her fourth ready-to-wear collection.
Inspired by a trip along the River Thames – from the tranquil, floral beauty of Kew Gardens in the West, meandering through the heart of London through the stunning bridges and architecture of the City and ending up at what has recently become one of the world’s major sporting centres – the central theme of the collection is the bringing together of old and new, with a perfect blend of what Liz does best.
Injections of experimentation and flashes of the unexpected are all seen with Liz’s hyper-real vision inspired by architecture, both antique and contemporary. The sleek silhouettes coupled with subtle structure accentuate the female form and emphasise the sense of bold and daring femininity associated with the Liz Black woman.
The colour palette revolves around the femininity of pink and the simple strength of black and shades of white. The contrast between lady-like pale pink and vibrant hot pink brings together the two qualities that every woman possesses – grace and strength. This, coupled with her softness and vulnerability, is reflected in the mix of fabrics: ethereal, delicate silks layered with more traditional wools and jerseys for a surprising clash of textures.
This season is all about contrasts and the beautiful things that can be created when they collide.
