_DR. MARTENS TO OPEN NEW STORE ON CARNABY ST, LONDON

Dr. Martens are to open a new store on London’s legendary Carnaby Street, bringing the footwear brand’s subcultural and historical influence to one of the most famous shopping streets in the World.

Due to open in November, the store will showcase the best of what Dr. Martens offers: classic and contemporary footwear along with the brand’s latest clothing and accessories range. As a place known for its historical association with music and underground culture since the 1960s, Carnaby Street is the perfect location for the British brand, and is also part of a retail opening programme that has seen
Dr. Martens stores recently opened in both Glasgow and Manchester.
The ‘look and feel’ of the store will embrace Dr. Martens global retail design concept. Designed over two floors and influenced by the brand’s British manufacturing heritage, the store will feature elements such as exposed wooden floors and brick walls, plus leather sofas in Dr. Martens classic ‘Oxblood’ tone.

Contemporary wall niches will highlight the brands key seasonal styles and will house a special ‘Made in England’ zone to showcase the product made in Dr. Martens original Northamptonshire factory.

Bespoke events to celebrate the store opening are currently being planned, with a nod to Dr. Martens roots in fashion and music. The brand have recently partnered with charity Strummerville, the Joe Strummer Foundation for New Music and when open, the Carnaby Street store will showcase key pieces from the Strummer School exhibition.

This will include personal effects, set lists and previously unseen items from Joe Strummer’s private collec- tion, along with listening posts playing music from his back catalogue, including The 101ers, The Mescaleros and of course, The Clash. Dr. Martens will also be inviting some of the artists from Strummerville to play at the opening events.
