For SS13 Edun collaborates with Matt Bernson to create a unique handmade shoe collection
Available from March 2013
Creative forces unite for the greater good as contemporary fashion brand EDUN partners with shoe designer Matt Bernson to create an extraordinary collaboration utilizing handmade African components.
An innovator in the footwear industry, Bernson has been celebrated for his unique silhouettes, impeccably executed with unmatched quality and construction, as well as a clear focus on both style and comfort.
Matt Bernson’s famed downtown-meets-the-beach aesthetic, a perfect fit for EDUN’s praised juxtaposition of utilitarian and outerworldly inspirations, resulted in the development of six classic styles using canvas developed in Kenya.
Merging EDUN’s cool girl aesthetic and expertise in African sourcing with Matt Bernson’s footwear designs was a driving force behind the collection.
Six Matt Bernson classics have been recreated utilizing Kenyan tenting canvas and detailing from the EDUN Spring/Summer 2013 collection, a story of Urban Camouflage Prints and Etched Florals, drawn from the idea of two contrasting worlds brought together by the EDUN girl.
African tenting canvas is printed in Kenya and signature details such as the brushed metal circle pulls were made in by artisans in the Bombalulu workshop in Kenya.
The collaboration ranges from traditional ballet flats and smoking slippers to modern chunky platform sandals, woven wedges and heeled booties. The assortment will range in retail price from £120 and will arrive in stores this March.
