The 69-year-old Queen of Soul has released a statement saying: "We're looking at June or July for our date and no, I'm not pregnant."
Miami Beach is the likely wedding venue with the reception to be held on a private luxury yacht, said the singer, who sang I Knew You Were Waiting (For Me) with George Michael in the 1980s.
It will be Franklin's third marriage - she was previously married to manager Ted White and, from 1978 to 1984, actor Glynn Turman.
The Respect, Chain of Fools and A Natural Woman singer had surgery in December 2010 for an undisclosed ailment. Rumours that she was suffering from pancreatic cancer were dismissed by Franklin in 2011 when she said her doctor told her: "The surgery that you just had is going to add 15 to 20 more years to your life."
