Dazed Media is pleased to unveil the #DAZED100 in collaboration with Calvin Klein, our definitive list of the hundred visionary talents shaping youth culture in 2016.
From Abra to Arca, Hari Nef to Harley Weir, Young Thug and Kelela to Kiernan Shipka, the DAZED 100 is an interactive list that enables readers to rank the names that are driving the future, featuring actors, activists, artists, fashion designers, film-makers, make-up artists, models, musicians, photographers and stylists from over twenty countries.
Now in its second year, the online campaign allows Dazed audiences to expand each of the profiles and vote to influence their ranking, allowing readers to shape and curate this year’s DAZED 100. The nominees, who were researched and selected by Dazed’s network of contributors, are available to explore online, with voting open for five weeks when the DAZED 100 will be listed in order of preference and the readers’ winner announced.
This year, 87 new entries were introduced to the DAZED 100, including Alexandra Marzella, the artistic exhibitionist eschewing women’s beauty expectations; Demna Gvasalia, Vetements designer and new artistic director of Balenciaga; Fetty Wap, the hip hop recording artist making waves around the world; Jazz Jennings, American transgender teen and LGBTQ rights activist; Lotta Volkova, the stylist whose radical vision is energising the catwalk for shows including Gosha Rubchinskiy and Vetements, and Ruth Bell, the blonde buzz cut British beauty.
In its inaugural year 40, 000 opinion formers worldwide spent a total of 280 days exploring and ranking the nominees. The 2015 DAZED 100 final readers’ choice was Hari Nef.
Next week, to celebrate the DAZED 100, Dazed and Calvin Klein will host an evening that will bring together 2016’s defining class at a secret location during New York Fashion Week.
