MARNI EVENING COLLECTION 2014

Restrained yet soft, Marni Evening Collection has a womanly strictness that morphs into a sense of elegant nonchalance. Severe cuts and sport accents create an intriguing play of contrasts. The result is effortlessly sophisticated.

The quintessentially feminine silhouette stops below the knee, or falls to the floor, waist always cinched by bands tied in a bow. Immaculately-cut blouses are matched with flaring skirts, or worn under precious blousons. A sleeveless coat paired with a matching dress has a regal slouchiness. The bow on the short cape has a dramatic flair that is toned down by mannish trousers. Bands of fur edge the bejeweled coat; superimpositions of pieces create graphic shadows. The floor-sweeping fluid dresses have the ease of a tee and the elegance of a ballgown.

The color palette is nocturnal, with precious accents: black, deep red, green, touches of white. Floral and geometric prints enrich and interrupt the visual texture. Fabrics are tactile and sophisticated: double duchesse, crepe envers.

Stack heeled sandals in black and gold, flat sandals with bejeweled bands and mannish lace ups with toes encrusted in rhinestones complete the image together with clutches and shoulder bags made in colored python. A soft embroidered bag with a fur band adds an eccentrically utilitarian touch. Bijou are elegantly spare necklaces with leaf pendants, precious necklaces made of ribbons, chains and rhinestones braided together and headbands embroidered with cabochons.

Available from November.
