Sailor Rick Peacock models the newest NAUTICA at Debenhams collection

Renowned US label, Nautica has recently launched its Spring/Summer 2012 menswear collection exclusive to Debenhams. What began as a collection of outerwear in 1983 has become a leading global lifestyle brand representing the finest menswear with refined classic American styles that are inspired and energized by the water - unavailable on these shores – until now.

Having first set sail in 1983, Nautica began its journey as a modern American classic lifestyle brand, when founder David Chu, created six styles of outerwear intended to seamlessly fuse fashion and function. By 1985, a full men’s sportswear collection was available and only a few short years later, Nautica began its expansion into international markets. Today, Nautica is available in more than 60 countries and continues to focus on international development including in the U.K.

Maria Vicari, President of Global Licensing at Nautica says, “The Nautica brand represents a lifestyle that is aspirational and appealing to many.

“We are delighted to collaborate with Debenhams on an exclusive basis to bring the Nautica brand to consumers throughout the UK with a compelling new offering which complements their current brand mix”.

With a history that spans two decades, Nautica has evolved from a collection of men’s outerwear to a leading global lifestyle brand.

The debut collection at Debenhams is inspired by the quintessential California Road Trip, the collection takes inspiration from the classic, cool streets of Carmel-by-the-Sea and the traditional but chic elegance of the artists, actors, writers and sailors who bring it to life. Polo shirts in both stripe and check coupled with knee-length cargo shorts and cotton pique knits give a polished, clean and wearable look. Contrasts of colour define the collection, with the Signature Navy and Sail White surrounding a crisp palette of brights such as sunny yellows, sea greens and midsummer blues. Swimwear is all about making a statement, with stripes, floral prints, contrast colour blocking and fun photo seaside prints.

Adam Creasey, Menswear Trading Director at Debenhams says, “Nautica brings to the UK an active and adventurous lifestyle brand which combines style with practicality.

“Fresh from the menswear catwalk at New York Fashion Week but with British high street prices, Nautica expands Debenhams’ casual offering at a very timely moment for our customers.”

“Debenhams is excited to bring Nautica to a British customer base and further secure our position as the destination for great value designer menswear”.

Nautica’s Spring/Summer 2012 collection exclusive to Debenhams captures the brand’s essence of an active, adventurous and spirited lifestyle. Nautica is now available in 21 stores nationwide and online.
