ACNE Studios opens first Flagship in NYC

ACNE Studios hosted a private dinner at Il Buco Alimentari e Vineria in the style of a traditional Swedish Midsummer celebration complete with a wildflower crown for each guest and a private performance by Lykke li. The group was celebrating the new ACNE Studios 4,000 square foot flagship at 33 Greene Street, the shop is set to open on Friday, June 8th.

“When I am in New York, I really feel that historical references are very visible, so when designing the new store at 33 Greene Street, I wanted to take a very Swedish slant on history and environment. I was inspired by the Gustavian period of Swedish design, its cleanness and purity, and I wanted to re-interpret that in a modern way. Stockholm is a series of islands, and I wanted to do a take on that. Black and white block-striped tiles frame an island of green carpet, and a blue horizon glass panel is reminiscent of the colours of the Swedish archipelago, bringing a little bit of Stockholm to Manhattan.”

Inspired by its Stockholm base, ACNE has designed a 4000 sq ft flagship store
at 33 Greene Street, Soho. All interiors are bespoke to the NYC store and feature a floor framed by black and white striped tiles. Sitting centrally in the tiles is a plush green carpet signifying the island of Stockholm, whilst the blue mirrored back wall symbolises the water which encapsulates the Swedish capital. Dividing the space are set like partitions painted grey and framed in white, a reference to classic Swedish Gustavian design. The shoe salon to the back right of the store
is lined in marble and features bespoke stools designed especially for the space. Hot Pink and Black steel pillars support the ceiling and punctuating the ceilingis a combination of three track spotlighting and bespoke LED lighting designed by ACNE.
