Giselle by Jasper Garvida

As you all know Jasper Garvida is one of my favourite designers Ive followed him from day one and I'm still one is his biggest cheerleaders. Jasper has a vision and a way of dressing a woman that shows off every form of her body in the most feminine way with his creations and choice in fabrics.  Although I have written about the Spring/Summer collection a few times already, over the last few weeks I have been highlighting pieces from the collection such as the Clara shirt a few days ago and now the 'Giselle Top'.

Most girls have longed to emulate the grace and elegance of a ballerina. For Spring Summer2011, Jasper Garvida has made that fantasy a reality, by channeling the sophistication and innocence found at the ballet, into the Giselle top. However, don’t be fooled by its girly façade, the Giselle top will give you a killer silhouette that will make you feel all woman.

Made from silk organza the Giselle top mirrors the kind of spectacular movement that can normally only be achieved by donning your finest tutu! And, the fabulousness does not stop there; the Giselle top features beautiful hand looping on its collar and sleeves that gives this shirt added luxurious appeal, and broadensout the shoulders creating a teeny tiny waist.

Produced 6 cm longer for our stockists, the daring amongst us can style it as a dress, with heels from the heavens - take a look at the gorgeous shoes designed by Jasper Garvida for Upper Street. Alternatively - for those not so keen on exposing their pins - the top can be worn with some skinny jeans and cute ballet pumps to polish off the look.

THE 'KING COAT' BY CROMBIE

The King Coat is a Crombie classic steeped in history, so called because it was favoured by British royalty - King George VI was a devotee. It has an aristocratic bearing with its wide, peaked wrapover lapel, empire proportions - the sweep of the coat is key - and beautiful herringbone cashmere-kissed cloth which is surprisingly light and easy to wear. A great three season coat.

1932

Back in 1932 Crombie designed an exclusive coat for the Duke of York (later King George VI) for his visit to a Crombie Mill and In 2009 Crombie revised the design an re-released the ‘King Coat’, the design is available to buy in Camel in-store or online.

Verdict:  I love this coat its one of those pieces you can dress up or down and it still screams class and that I've arrived factor.....an investment piece you will have for years to come....

Check out the King Coat and the full crombie collection in-store or alternatively at http://www.crombie.co.uk/

Crombie is also available to purchase from Harrods of London and Selfridges & Co.

Surrounded by a decor with hues of grey and light pink, the legendary Coromandel screens give structure to the room. The baroque arch, a reproduction of what was once displayed in the 1930s apartment at 31 rue Cambon, stands theatrically in a mirror version. What a surprise when it finally reveals the replica of the mythical staircase at rue Cambon…Under an elegant and watercolour influence, lightness, radiance and freshness set the tone for the season.

In the footsteps of the black and white suits and dresses with the embroidered motif, a wash of pink takes its place in the collection: fresh pink, tender pink and raw pink are complemented by soft greys and ivories, with highlights of silver. The pink instils a mood of grace, poise and elegance. Its subtlety and sophistication reinforce a fresh, urban character, with a hint of mystery.

The silhouette is one of clean lines, close to the body, before blending into gentle, freer forms, subtly relaxed at the back.

The cut on the shoulders is rounded, seamless and ultra pure, with relaxed necklines, highlighted with little youthful sleeves, either contrasted or with bavolet effects.

Predominantly cut from light, extensively developed tweeds, the coats, jackets and dress coats are accompanied by slim leg jeans in denim or sparkling with sequins. Buttons and belts constitute the accessories.

The grace of the long dresses and narrow tapered or straight knee-length skirts, is also present in the clean lines of the chiffon, tulle and organza tops embroidered with sequins, crystals, flowers and pearls. Sophisticated tiering and drape characterise the skirts, captivating with exquisite transparency and culminating in whispers of tulle, delicately cut in an impressionist style with low waists which glide over the hips.  Karl Lagerfeld adds poetic elegance with slim leg trousers in chiffon, which have been embroidered or covered in sequins in their entirety: a quintessential rock-chic signature.  Worn round the neck is a black satin ribbon, placed high up to dramatise the face. Footwear comprises ballerina flats in satin or patent with a pointed toe and ballerina ankle boots. “Fragile Rock” is the interpretation from the master-designer, who has chosen to open and close the ball with the very distinguished Stella Tennant and Kristen McMenamy, the model known for her superbly structured face.

Under the spell are those loyal to the fashion house: Anna Mouglalis, Vanessa Paradis, Gaspard Ulliel, Elodie Bouchez, Lou Doillon, Kirsten Dunst, Janelle Monae, Dani, Bambou…Pedro Almodovar.

The Clara Shirt by Jasper Garvida

Inspired by the layers and details found on the costumes of the Ballets Russes, the Clara shirt is every bit as  delicate and exclusive as the lady who wears it.

I  love everything about this shirt but there is one stand out attribute that really makes the Clara leap out from the crowd - the stunning worked fabric. The looping featured on the collar and sleeves is lovingly stitched by hand from silk organza lined with the finest habotai silk. The shirt will be available in two options; you can opt to have both the collar and sleeves looped or just the collar, depending on the look you are going for, or your body shape. The rest of the blouse is made from sheer luxurious silk organza.

Worn with a camisole and an insanely cute rah-rah skirt, the Clara shirt creates a girly, baby-doll esque look; perfect for low-key summer events. The shirt can also be worn in the evening with one’s slinkiest lingerie and some seriously tailored trousers.

Neil Diamond’s 70th Birthday celebrate with Jack One!

Celebrate the American legend’s trademark style with LA eyewear brand Oliver Peoples, and the new Jack One frame.
Neil Diamond Photographic Print

In the late 70s, Los Angeles-based optician Jack Schulsinger hand-molded a standard metal aviator into an edgy, custom shape for one of his regular customers, Neil Diamond. The look was quite a departure from the classic, tear drop, double bridge aviators of the day and soon became a signature style that Neil wore on tours, album covers and in interviews. Each one of the frames were handmade by Jack, so the design was never actually put into production. Oliver Peoples Founder and Creative Director Larry Leight, along with his brother and Co-Founder, Dennis, remembered the buzz around the custom-made style and when they recently stumbled on a picture of Neil wearing it, they were inspired to find a way to recreate it.

The distinct, patented lens shape is a distinctive, fashion-forward interpretation of the traditional metal aviator. The retro design features mineral glass and VFX Photochromic glass lens options in Silver, Chrome, Gold and Rose Gold color options.

H&M NEWS FOR SPRING FROM HOME

As Spring days brighten H&M’s Home collection is all about enjoying the light. Lace, white crochet and Broderie Anglaise help to let in the light around the house, especially in the bedroom where such see-through fabrics help to create a romantic atmosphere. Colours such as sea blue and green hues are echoed on chair pads and table runners, which look great both indoors and out. Nautical stripes and sailor prints are a key style crossover for the fashionable home, while botanical imagery and unbleached linens continue a natural theme. Candy colours and sweet slogans on guest towels and bath mats sit alongside Nordic inspiration on bath and hand towels. Bold-colour paisleys in tablecloths send the message that spring has fully arrived.

“As the weather warms up, we tend to spend more of our time outdoors. We style our favourite spot outside with chair pads in blue stripes and cushions in unbleached linen, and we decorate our Easter tables with green herbal prints, pencil-drawn flower patterns and oriental multicolours. We want different shades of white in our bedrooms; in lace, crochet and shiny velvets,” says Evelina Kravaev Söderberg, H&M Home’s head of design.

CONCEPT: An accessible, inspirational range of fashionable textiles for the home, all at a great price.

COLOURS: Pure blue and green inspired by nature, alongside nautical navy and the raw tones of unbleached linen. White and off-white are accented by shades of pink.

KEY TRENDS: This Spring we want to create a casual outdoor style. Nautical stripes are key patterns for the home, as is all-white lace, crochet and Broderie Anglaise. Graphics herald the warming weather, from the warmth of Nordic prints to the signs of heat in strong-coloured paisley.

FABRICS: Cotton, linen, lace, crochet knit, velvet.

MAGGIE ANGUS - A PLAYGROUND OF FANCIFUL JEWELLERY

Maggie Angus is an exciting new jewellery and design label by Anna Evans whose unique designs are based upon her endless doodles, weird and wonderful vintage finds, an ounce of glamour plus a good dollop of mischief.

Palm Tree Leaves Necklace

The latest collection VIVA DEL MAR (Life of the Sea) is an underwater inspired world for Spring Summer 2011. Highly charged punchy acrylic forms take centre stage, each marked with assertive geometric patterns. Influenced by the riotous vibrancy of Southern California, Studio 54-esque disco cool and the abundance of energy beneath the waves, Maggie Angus’ latest collection transports you to far off shores ready for some serious sunshine and partying.

Tropical Palm Tree Earrings

I found the jewellery young, fun and chic! the jewellery has been recently featured in Elle and Red Magazine so its a hot collection.
